PRISHTINA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT “ADEM JASHARI” REACHES 2 MILLION PASSENGERS

Prishtina, 3 December 2018 – Prishtina International Airport “Adem Jashari” has reached today a record figure by serving the 2nd millionth passenger of this year. A solemn ceremony was held in the terminal of PIA “Adem Jashari” on this occasion of reaching this significant milestone, whereby the 2nd millionth passenger has been awarded with a return ticket and a CIP card.

This figure has been reached for the first time since the opening of Prishtina Airport and comes as a result of the constant dedication of Limak company in providing facilities for the airlines, enabling the most advanced infrastructure as well as additional services at the airport, aiming to keep the passenger satisfaction at the highest level.

“Our airport’s number of passengers is growing continuously, at the same time we are keeping our customer’s satisfaction at the highest level. All of these results are showing that Pristina International Airport is one of the most successful privatization projects of Europe” – stated Gokmen Aritay, Director of Operations at PIA “Adem Jashari”.

Over 2 million and 150 thousand passengers are expected to use PIA “Adem Jashari” until the end of the year. The additional destinations have had an impact in the fast growth of passengers’ figures during the last years.

On the other hand, the new destinations planned as well as the stationing of Germania’s aircraft in Pristina Airport next year, are expected to further have an impact on the continual of this growth trend.

Germania Airlines will station an Airbus A319 at the airport Pristina

BERLIN/PRISTINA – 02. November 2018

As of March 31, 2019, the independent German airline Germania will station an Airbus A319 with 150 seats at the airport of the Pristina the capital city of Kosovo. In cooperation with Air Prishtina, the airline will then further expand its existing local offer at the start of the summer season 2019 and, among others, open new connections from Pristina to Stuttgart, Hamburg and Hanover. The existing routes to and from Munich, Düsseldorf, Basel-Mulhouse and Verona will continue to be offered.

Germania and Air Prishtina today presented their plans for the coming year to the local press at a press conference. Present was also His Excellency Christian Heldt, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Pristina, who commented on the plans of the two companies as follows: "With almost 300,000 passengers in 2017, Germania is number one at Pristina Airport. I hope that with the additional flights that Germania now handles from its base here at Pristina Airport, Germany will soon be the destination and starting point for the passengers. I am proud and happy that a German airline is taking on this important role and would soon like to train and work with Kosovar cabin crew and other local staff.”

Sieghard Jähn, Member of the Board of the Germania Group, praised in particular the good cooperation with Air Prishtina: "The partnership between Germania and Air Prishtina is close and trustful. Both companies benefit greatly from the further expansion of our cooperation. The enormous importance of Air Prishtina here in the region is an important key for Germania to open up further markets.”

Germania and Air Prishtina have been working together since 2012 on routes between Germany and Kosovo. Leyla Ibrahimi, CEO of Air Prishtina, commented: "With the stationing of a machine in Pristina, Air Prishtina is a specialist in this market in order to be able to develop and expand its flights and operation. It is the logical consequence of a long-standing and trusting cooperation based on flexibility and short decision-making processes.”

An important partner in the region is the Pristina International Airport. Claus Altenburg, Sales Director of Germania Airline, on the deployment of the Airbus A319 in Pristina: "In 2019 we expect a further increase in demand for flights from Kosovo, especially to Germany. With the stationing of an aircraft in Pristina Germania is together with Air Prishtina well prepared. This allows us to respond quickly to new developments at any time.”

It is planned to recruit flight attendants, which Germania needs for the machine stationed in Pristina in the coming weeks and months in Kosovo. The fourth generation of Limak Airport Services Institute has graduated

Pristina, 12 October 2018 – With a solemn ceremony held in Bogazici University in Istanbul, Turkey, the fourth generation of Limak Airport Services Institute has graduated. The thirty students of this generation have officially completed the training part from Bogazici Univeristy and ENAC institute, thus managing to successfully certify in airport services.

“As the largest investor in Kosovo, we are ready to serve the country in the best way. This is the reason we have established Limak Airport Services Institute; because we think that Kosovar young people are very valuable, and they are ready to serve their country if they are given the chance” – said on this occasion Ebru Özdemir, Limak Investment Chairperson of the Board.

Haldun Firat Köktürk, CEO of Limak Kosovo International Airport also adressed to the attandends. “Our Airport is now buzzing with youth, just as the country of Kosovo is. This is what our visitors see when they first land to the country, highly professional well educated young people, fluent in numerous international languages and able to provide the best airport services” – stated Köktürk.

Limak Airport Services Institute is the design of success, a path to show that excellence does exist. It is established within Limak Kosovo International Airport to support the best students of University of Prishtina, to create the prospect of being a part of one of the most successful companies in Kosovo and encourage the youth that success is created solely from educational efforts and self-commitment. The program was initiated by Limak Kosovo International Airport and is implemented in cooperation with the University of Prishtina ‘Hasan Prishtina’, Bogazici University from Turkey and ENAC Institute in France.

After the certification, the students are given the opportunity to become part of the paid internship program at a number of departments within the Prishtina International Airport ‘Adem Jashari’ while the best ones are offered employment.

Limak starts investments in Skopje

Pristina, 28 September 2018 – Limak company which manages Pristina International Airport “Adem Jashari” has officially begun the realization of the project which foresees the construction of a business-housing complex and an underground road in Skopje. The 250 million USD project is foreseen to be completed within the next 40 months and includes a business complex, mall, hotel, and parking lots. “This is our first project in Macedonia, a country where we feel at home. We are always searching for possibilities to invest here, because we believe in the qualified workforce and economic trends”, said Limak board member Serdar Bacaksiz.

Limak planes to complete the underground road in 22 months and the entire complex will be completed in 40 months. The project will be built with high standards, fitting the Museum of the City of Skopje.

PIA "Adem Jashari" reduces the emitted carbon level by 23%

PRISTINA, 17 August 2018 – The development of environment-friendly practices in order to protect the environment remains one of the hardest challenges in the aviation industry. Being aware of the corporates’ impact on the environment they operate at, the Limak company that manages PIA "Adem Jashari" has been implementing managing programs that have contributed on the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions for several years. In addition, PIA "Adem Jashari" has deepened its cooperation with other partners by encouraging them to be part of these programs so that all together can contribute to a cleaner environment.

As a result, Airport Carbon Accreditation has upgraded PIA "Adem Jashari" at the third level (Optimization) for successful management of gases. Through these eco-friendly policies, it has been achieved the reduction of carbon per passenger by 23% (ton CO2 / passenger), while in total it has been reduced by 6% (ton CO2). The upgrade of PIA "Adem Jashari" at the third level of this program places it among 19-member airports from 10 different European countries.

Airport Carbon Accreditation is a program administered by the international advisory company WSP Parsons Brinckerhoff, appointed by the International Airport Council in Europe, which represents about 500 airports from 45 European countries.

Pristina Airport provides trainings authorized by IATA and Swiss

PRISTINA – 27 July 2018 - In order for companies to keep pace with the frequent changes in the aviation world, largely resulting from advanced technological developments, it is more than necessary for the staff to be trained in line with the changes that have been made. Therefore, the Training Centre of Limak company which manages PIA "Adem Jashari" has already been commissioned by the International Air Transport Association - IATA for providing training services to other members of the aviation industry.

More than nine different courses certified by IATA are provided by specialized instructors of PIA "Adem Jashari" who are experienced in this field so that the highest quality services are offered to people interested. On the other hand, Pristina Airport offers also approved training by Swiss International Air Lines and Swiss European Air Lines. Trainings can be carried out in the premises of ANP "Adem Jashari" or in the location where the interested ones seek.

The International Air Transport Association which was established in 1945, is one of the most important aviation organizations that aims to promote the safety, security, reliability and favorable services to all air traffic travelers, relying on cooperation between airlines. Today it counts 280-member airlines from 120 different countries around the world.

The Training Center of PIA “Adem Jashari” currently offers more than 30 professional courses including trainings on dangerous goods, and all are incompliance with the requirements of IATA, ICAO, ISAGO and approved by the Civil Aviation Authority Kosovo

Pristina Airport invests in latest technology systems for passenger processing

Prishtina, 7 July 2018 - In order to increase efficiency in operations, avoidance of delays and consequently increase passenger satisfaction, Limak company which manages Prishtina International Airport "Adem Jashari" has now implemented the most advanced systems for processing passengers and their luggage. Thanks to the Amadeus Altéa Ground Handler Departure Control solution (DCS) as well as the Amadeus’ cloud-based Baggage Reconciliation System, Pristina Airport has reduced operational costs by 20 percent over the past two months, and at the same time has increased the performance of passenger handling and handling of aircrafts on the ground.

PIA “Adem Jashari” organizes artistic competition for children

Pristina, 1 June 2018 – On the occasion of the International Children’s Day, PIA “Adem Jashari” organized a competition for the best artistic painting/project, where all children from 6 to 11 years had right to participate.

Under the rhythms of music and performance of entertainment groups, children had the opportunity to show their creativity in the exhibition held at PIA “Adem Jashari” premises. The event has been decorated even more with the songs and poems of children, who had come organized together with their teachers.

In order to support and motivate children to develop their artistic creativity, the best paintings and other art pieces have been awarded while presents were given to all participators as well. Limak company which manages Pristina International Airport “Adem Jashari” is supporting in continuity CSR projects. In addition to involving children in these kind of events, the airport has been organizing visits for children for many years, where they have the opportunity to learn more about aviation.

Germania Connects European Capitals: Inaugural Flights between Paris and Pristina

BERLIN/PRISTINA – 28 March 2018– Today, independent airline Germania operated its first flights between the two capital cities of Kosovo and France. This afternoon, the incoming flight from Paris was greeted in Pristina with the traditional water salute. “Expanding the VFR network (Visiting Friends & Relatives) is central to Germania’s strategy. It does not only focus on connections to popular holiday destinations and charter flights, but also on out-of-the-ordinary routes,” said Germania Group representative Urs A.
